Background: Following several years of restructuring and investment, a major Australian FMCG food company needed to appoint a new Chief Marketing & Innovation Officer to develop and lead a growth and innovation strategy. Perceptor was retained as the executive search partner to manage this assignment.
Major Challenges: This Melbourne based business was an Australian division of a global food group. Therefore, the criteria was to identify candidates who had food manufacturing experience with the ability to operate in an autonomous business and no global guidelines and bring industry leading innovation skills.
Approach: Perceptor conducted a review of the FMCG food sector and categorised companies according to their depth of focus on innovation from concept to commercialisation and developing marketing strategies from scratch rather than localising. We focused our search on these companies and candidates with this specific industry background in their career history.
Result: Perceptor was able to provide a high quality shortlist which enabled our client to have two excellent candidates to select from at the end of the interview and assessment process. The selected candidate is a high profile executive in the FMCG sector with an excellent track record of successful marketing and innovation leading to growth. His background is from a major Australian food and beverage manufacturer.
